My name is Joseph Agreda and I am a 6’ 160 lb, close defender/LSM. I was a starting close defender on the freshman’ team and starting LSM on JV for Shelton High School during my freshman year. I was also a backup defender for Varsity and suited up every game. We made it to states and it was truly an amazing environment. My sophomore year I became a starting close defender for Varsity. That year I was grinding all summer long to earn that last position. I do not have the money to go to training camps, so I trained myself. I trained everyday using the agility ladder, push-ups, and mile runs. That year I surprised my coaches by having an amazing year and showing a lot of improvement from my freshman year.
I pride myself through my academics. As my family says “School comes first, sports come second.” I’m a very studious and intelligent student who maintains a weighted 4.0 GPA. I’m not afraid to ask my teacher to explain problems I do not understand and will stay until I figure it out. I put my grades above everything and gain pride from my results. My family has not been to college or to any university, so I want to be the first Agreda to go to college and receive my degree. For criminal justice It has been a dream of mine since I was 7. I will do anything to achieve that dream.
My character is very respectful. I was raised to respect everyone that I meet and shake everyone’s hand; alwayslook into their eyes and ask about their day. I’m also very hard-working. Any coach that tells me what they want me to do, I will do anything to do it for them. My mentality comes from my dad. He always tells me when I’m working during the summer at his electrician jobs, “Never stand around! There’s always something to do to get better!” This motivates me everyday, to get better than I was the day before. For any college looking for a hard-working player, I’m all up for it. I love the grind and doubters, it pushes me to get better.
