Laryssa Guimaraes...Hi! I am Laryssa Guimaraes-Gabriel. I am a Junior transfer at Shelton High School, in Shelton, CT. I am interested in competing at the next level at a school that can offer a great academic and athletic program.
I am a 6'1 Center that dominates the defensive end, shot blocker, and I am a great rebounder.
Before attending Shelton High, I went to Notre-Dame Fairfiel, in Fairfield CT. At Notre Dame, I started on Varsity as a Freshman and had a very successful season. Coming towards the end of the season I suffered an injury. I tore my ACL, MCL, and both of my Meniscus.
I was injured and was out for two years, but was cleared to come back after being told I wouldn’t be able to play again, by the Grace of God I was able to return back to the floor and have an immediate impact on my current High School averaging 8pts, 8rebs per contest, 3 assists, and 2 blocks per game, and collecting a season high 14 points 14 boards and 8 blocks.
I had transferred to Shelton High my Junior year and started on their Varsity team. My Junior year definitely represented how badly I wanted to return to the sport I so hardly worked to get back to. I am a great team player, unselfish, and love to keep the energy up! I know that talent is gifted, but energy and effort are worked on. I plan on bringing 110% to every practice and game, keeping those around me with high energy and good morale.
I plan on attending a College/University that will challenge me academically and athletically.
Thank you so much!
-Laryssa Guimaraes-Gabriel
