My love for the game of lacrosse is what drives me to become better. Two years ago, after being sidelined for a few months with an injury, I felt like I was in need of finding a special skill to provide to my team after not being able to be with them over those months.
My coach, who is a former professional lacrosse faceoff specialist, told me that he thought I had the work ethic, quickness, and strength to become an elite faceoff specialist. After many hours of his coaching and countless repetitions, my coach taught me the new skill that I now possess. Now, I have found a new love for the game that I did not have before as I have found that it's a great honor for me to go out each time and get my team the ball when they need it most. I realized that nothing makes me happier than being able to use my skill as an elite faceoff specialist to help my team win.
Since learning my new skill, in 2018 alone I have led my team to 2 tournament championships. Although getting my team wins and trophies is great, I find myself striving now to see how great I can become at faceoffs and prepare to help my future college team win. Each day I attempt to get as many faceoff reps as possible, strengthen myself through weight training, and devote myself to my schoolwork. I have learned that nothing great in this world comes easily, and that you have to work hard each day in your pursuits in order to achieve your goals.
As a sophomore, I am taking the most challenging courses available with all of my courses being either Honors level or A.P. In 2018, I was awarded the Eastview H.S. Spirit Award for character. This award goes to one student athlete that demonstrates the character and is an example of what an Eastview H.S. student athlete should be.
Dedicating myself to perform well in my studies will lead me to success in life and will open doors for me to go to the most competitive schools in the country. I know that pushing myself both inside the classroom and on the lacrosse field, my success will come and I will continue to get to enjoy the feeling I get when my talent helps my team win.
