Personal Statement
I started playing lacrosse at a young age because I was fascinated by the speed and excitement of the game. I became more focused on faceoffs as I learned how technical the faceoff process was to execute. There is a science behind each faceoff and it became a compelling challenge for me to compete. The faceoff specialist bears the individual pressure to succeed but also must be able to utilize his teammates. This competition, in a greater fashion, has helped me deal with pressure in my own life. The faceoff challenge, when I succeed, becomes an exhilarating feeling. If I lose a faceoff, I learned how to stay focused, to clear my mind and prepare for my next opportunity. I have learned life’s lessons of how to be resilient, determined, flexible, humble, smart and coachable. These characteristics have been transmitted to other components of my life and varsity sports including the midfield lacrosse position and ice hockey.
I have done well in both the classroom and the field. I have a 4.3 GPA in honor classes and I was selected this year by NJ.COM as one of the top lacrosse sophomores in N.J. This season, I also faceoff for the Headstrong Foundation to help raise money for cancer treatment.
I am looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically and academically. I want to grow and expand in all aspects of my life. My present academic plans is for a major in the biological sciences.
