Hello! This is John Hampton. I am a 17-year-old junior at Manvel High School in Manvel, Texas. I’m a dual-sport athlete running cross country for Manvel High School in the fall and playing lacrosse for Ridge Point High School in the Spring. I also play club lacrosse with UNRL Texas. My position is close defense with some LSM. This year I’m taking two AP classes: AP US History and AP Physics. I want to play lacrosse in college, and I’m looking for a small to medium sized school with a low student to faculty ratio where I can study either accounting or history.
I started playing lacrosse in fourth grade in Utah as a middie with some face-off experience. My first rec coach immediately had me try out for the Venom club team. I began specializing in defense a couple of years later, and now I play defense consistently, and fill in as LSM when needed. I played with the Bountiful Braves (rec), Venom (club), and Oneida (club) until I moved to Houston in 2018 when I joined Team 91 Texas (club) and the Ridge Point Panthers (high school) as a starting varsity defenseman. They gave me the nickname Johnny Utah. I was also selected to play for Team 91 Nationals 2023. I was awarded the "Panther Award'' for demonstrating strong leadership during the 2020-2021 season.
I also participate in community service activities in my spare time. I earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 2020. I’m active with Manvel High’s Asian American Pacific Islander club to stop anti-Asian hate. Other volunteer activities include the Fort Bend Fall lacrosse academy and organizing and leading a "try lacrosse" course for youth. I am also a youth lacrosse referee for the 2022 season.
I appreciate your consideration.
