Quin Timmerman '20 Recruiting Profile

    My name is Quin Timmerman. I am in the 11th grade at The Collegiate School in Richmond, Virginia. I play varsity football, basketball, and lacrosse, and I also swim on a summer swim team. I have been playing club lacrosse since 1st grade.  I started at Geronimo Lacrosse where I played through 5th grade. I then moved on to play with the Next Level Greyhounds through 8th grade. I am now playing for Amped Lax. Amped is a team that consists of the best players from the State of Virginia. I am the leader of the team and one of the most dominant players on the team.  I have a high lacrosse IQ and can anticipate movements on the field.  I am also quick on the field, have a right and left-handed shot, and can find the open man making me an offensive asset.   

    I was selected to play on the varsity lacrosse team as a freshman. I finished my first varsity lacrosse season with 12 goals, 5 assists, 8 caused turnovers, 12 ground balls and 1 deflected pass.  I was also voted one of the Assistant Captains. As an Assistant Captain, I was responsible for “Challenges” which meant making sure no one placed blame on others, that we were all fighting through the toughest practices and games, and that we were not making excuses, all of which brought the team closer.  I was selected for this role because of my fight and determination; my response to facing our best defenders; and my reaction to being challenged and pushed hard by my coaches, beyond what I thought at times was my limit.

      I am consistently on the A/B or High Honor Roll and constantly strive for the best grades I can achieve. One of my most challenging, yet enjoyable classes is Honors Chinese.  My goal is to be fluent in Chinese by high school graduation. As of now, I am interested in majoring in business with an emphasis in sports communication.

    In addition to the academics at Collegiate, all students are required to perform 10-15 community service hours each year. I see this as less of a requirement and more of an opportunity to help others. Last summer I went on a mission trip to Slidell, Louisiana. There, we worked with The Epworth Project to rebuild houses that were affected by Hurricane Katrina. In getting to know the homeowners whose house I was helping to rebuild, and hearing of their personal struggles since Hurricane Katrina, it made me realize how truly fortunate I am.

    It has been my dream to play sports at the college level. As I get closer to my senior year and high school graduation I am working as hard as I can, both athletically and academically, to make that dream a reality. I am hoping to attend a strong academic school that has a competitive lacrosse program.  Beyond that, I am flexible and open to considering any college.
