Personal Statement
My name is Jordan Deane. I am an outside hitter but enjoy back row as well, Experiencing back row pushed me to work on my passing and defensive skills during the past year. I started volleyball in 6th grade in hopes to follow in my sister's footsteps but quickly realized my passion for the sport far exceeded hers. While I tried basketball and soccer in middle school, I knew they just acted as a way to stay conditioned until I could play volleyball again. Once I began high school I had the opportunity to devote 100% of my time to volleyball. This pushed me to try out for club volleyball at the Richmond Volleyball Club (RVC). After not making the team I hoped to, I understood what I needed to do to accomplish my goal and play at a higher level. I practiced outside every day in the Winter, Spring, and Summer, as well as playing beach volleyball for RVC and participating in each tournament. This practice honed my skills specifically in serving, serve-receive, reading the ball, footwork and overall feel for the sport through many drills. My perseverance paid off and I accomplished my goal of playing at the state level.
I believe my work ethic and passion for the sport will push me to never stop improving myself and my skills. I would hope to bring a motivating attitude to my college team as well as aiming to better my teammates. I have had a dream of playing at the college level ever since I started playing the sport, and I believe my drive and dedication can push me to accomplish this goal and be an asset to my team.
