Personal Statement

Hi coaches! I’m a 5’11”, 210 lb. Senior at Cave Spring High School in Roanoke, VA with a 3.6 GPA.  I had a very busy lacrosse summer playing with the Dukes of Virginia and individual showcases.  I am sometimes playing LSM but most of the time I play close defense. These past (2) varsity seasons, I started all lax games for Cave Spring High School and in 2018 I was a defensive linebacker starter for the football team.  I'm taking my Captain's role very seriously as I lead the team in off-season workouts/field practices three times per week until the regular season begins.

My highlights include the Virginia Cup, Libertty Bell Classic, Beast of the East Showcase, and the Maryland showcase.

I’ve been playing organized sports for as long as I can remember.  In 6th grade I was introduced to lacrosse and quickly channeled my passion and drive to lacrosse. Of all my experiences, one of the key takeaways is the importance of team chemistry and trust. Once our high school lax team bonded together on and off the field we began to trust in one another. Our communication on the field has improved over the years and we are finally playing like a team and not as individuals.

Playing sports has taught me many life lessons; teamwork, commitment, time management, humility, drive, spirit and leadership. I hope to continue improving as a lacrosse player and play for a coach that is just as passionate and hungry for a championship as I am. I draw my inspiration from the teammates around me and quickly apply what I’ve learned from past experiences. These life lessons coupled with a quality college education will help pave my way towards pursuing a career in the business, financial or medical field.

My coaches tell me that besides commitment and dedication, my other key strengths are passionate stick checking, quick feet, great work ethic and leadership on and off the field.  I continue to work on my defensive skills and made a conscious effort to improve on clearing and pushing for man-up situations.

This past summer, I volunteered to lead a 1-week lacrosse instructional camp for kids 8-13 years for my high school.  I also worked part-time on a few weekends helping staff move musical equipment for concerts in addition to clean-up and security.  Two summers ago I worked at a local lacrosse shop (Voomx) and coached younger kids how to play lacrosse.  I also worked at a child care store (Mommy Time) where I watched kids of various ages while their parents were away.

As a defender, I'm learning to set the pace and dictate the direction of my opponents in addition to anticipating where the ball will be.  Please take a moment to view my high school varsity highlights from this year and last, in addition to my summer 2019 highlights, to see if I have the potential in being a future difference maker on your team. I welcome all feedback as I continue learning and growing in this sport.

Please feel free to contact me on this website or text me at 540-597-5920.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
