2 years ago, I was overweight, unhappy, and had absolutely no hope for any athletic future. Then a year ago I decided to change that, I started lifting weights regularly and I began eating right. I ended up losing about 20 lbs and I brought back the joy I had for athletics. I started rowing in the fall of 2022 by request from my father. I fell in love with it and I grew to love the process because of the mental state I had put myself in via lifting. I had learned to train with intensity and purpose, with a mentality to never give up and to use discipline over motivation. This mindset transferred over to rowing once I started to enjoy it. I rowed on the novice team for my club during the fall, and during the winter trained with the varsity team to increase the vigor of my training. I then went to the US Rowing Atlantic City Indoor National Championships where I competed in the 2000m and 500m events. It was a fantastic experience which opened up my eyes to the world of rowing in college. After a long talk with my parents and weeks of thinking we decided to transfer me to a different club (TBC Racing) for more vigorous training, and came up with an intense training plan for me to improve as much as I can over the next 6 months to prepare for recruiting to start.
