Personal Statement

I'm a rising senior rowing for Cambridge Boat Club Juniors this fall, 2024. I am a focused and passionate rower, highly motivated to make our boat move as fast as possible. I thrive on understanding the mechanics, engineering and physics of the boat, along with constantly improving my rowing form to maximize efficiency. I believe the synergy and camaraderie of the rowers is key to our success. I am proud to have rowed for my high school team in the Head of the Charles my freshman, sophomore and junior years, earning the stroke seat in the V1 boat as a sophomore for HOCR '22 and as a junior in HOCR '23, placing 2nd in Massachusetts schools, ahead of many rival top-rated public and private schools.  My strong leadership abilities, positive attitude and willingness to do whatever it takes for the team are my strongest qualities and I am ready to bring them to a top collegiate rowing team!  I love to row with strong rowers who make me better!  This summer I trained with CRI Boston U19 Varsity Race team to compete in the Royal Canadian Henley, in a pair, a coxed four, and the first varsity eight.

  • 2024 Cambridge Boat Club (Competitive Junior Program)
  • The Cambridge Boat Club offers a highly selective competitive rowing program for high school athletes, focused on sculling and small boat racing. Our plan is to develop highly competitive athletes and boats, and to race successfully in several fall head races or scrimmages. Athletes are expected to attend all coached sessions, as well as to complete any requested additional training sessions on their own, outside of the CBC setting. The team is open to athletes who are currently in high school and have one or more years of rowing experience. Athletes are coached by CBC’s Junior Head Coach Abby Knight. Assistant Coaches are also involved.
  • 2024 Community Rowing Incorporated (CRI) (U19 Varsity Competitive Summer )
  • CRI nationally ranked and award-winning U19/Competitive Varsity program is dedicated to improving skills, increasing speed, and competing at a high level. Rowers challenge themselves physically and mentally within a strong team environment. The U19/Varsity boys’ and girls’ teams practice year-round, with short breaks between seasons. Athletes compete in local and national regattas, including the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta, Head Of The Charles and USRowing Youth Nationals.
