My goal is to compete as a Varsity rower at the collegiate level at a top school. After being a competitive swimmer for 10 years, I was introduced to the sport of rowing this past fall, and immediately connected to it with a passion. I worked my way up to the 1V boat within the fall season, and even rowed stroke in an Under 17 4 boat at the Head of the Charles, having only had one practice together prior to the race. I just recently qualified for Nationals in the 1V Row New Jersey 'A' Boat. I am fresh to the sport, hungry to succeed, and ready to put in the time and effort to achieve greatness. I am a great student and already scored a 35 on my ACT my first time taking it. I am 6’3 and still growing. My father is 6’4 and rowed at Rutgers University, and my mother is 5’10 and swam at Dartmouth College. Being a collegiate competitor is in my blood. I am unique in that I am a spirited leader (was recently elected President of the Student Body at Newark Academy), and I am skilled at motivating teams to achieve greatness. I was awarded both Breakout Swimmer of the Year and received the Team Spirit Award on my club swim team last year. Now I’m ready to be a Breakout Rower and rally my crew team to victory.
