I have only been rowing for a year and I absolutely love it. I work well in a team, and was chosen by my school to be a "natural helper" - someone other kids can come to if they have problems. Being slightly older I am very mature and level headed. I lived in Hong Kong for 10 years, and moved back to the USA in 10th Grade, so change and resilience have become part of me. My parents are from Australia (mother) and South Africa (father) so I would like a University that has cultural diversity.
My coach was reluctant to take me on so late my schooling but I assured him that I am driven and would do exactly as he asked to make sure I learnt quickly and caught up with the rest of the team. I believe I have fulfilled my promise, with the exception that I broke my ankle and was out from rowing for 3 months. Because of this I now am behind my teammates in fitness and it will require extra effort on my behalf to catch up and not let them down.
