I was first introduced to rowing by a close friend of mine who suggested I sign up for a learn to row camp. After that first day I knew that rowing was my future. From my first season in the fall of 2020 to now there has never been a moment that I've doubted my love for this wonderfully weird sport. From season to season, practice to practice I do everything I can to improve, to become the best rower I possibly can. My dedication and effort have so far been rewarded with success. I made my way into our top eight in my first season with our varsity team, fall of 2021, out pulling those that have been rowing for far longer than I. I then qualified for the 2022 youth national championships in Sarasota Fl, in the U174+ event, setting a team record as the fastest boat to ever be put out by our men's program. In the fall of this year, I was chosen by my coach to be a team captain.
In the classroom I strive to be the best I can be. After struggling in an online environment my freshman year, I learned to overcome obstacles and have since proved to both my teachers, and to myself that I can persevere through adversity. I was selected to be one out of only thirteen people in my school's advanced manufacturing program through a local community college, Sinclair. This program takes place over my junior and senior year and will conclude in a college math credit as well as up to four professional certifications in areas ranging from workplace safety to various manufacturing processes.
If you take nothing else away from this let it be this. I am dedicated, I work hard, and when I put my mind to something there is nothing that will keep me from achieving my goals and all I ask is that you give me a chance to prove that.
