My name is Emilio Olivares, and I’m a dedicated student-athlete with a passion for rowing and a deep academic interest in Physics and Engineering. I’m currently ranked #5 in my high school class and plan to pursue a degree in Physics with an engineering background, with long-term aspirations of earning a Ph.D. and contributing meaningful research to the scientific community.
Rowing has taught me the value of discipline, perseverance, and teamwork—qualities I carry into every aspect of my life. I began rowing with OKC Riversport Rowing and in just my first year, I earned a bronze medal at the Central Regionals. This year, I’ve grown even more as an athlete and leader, helping my crew win silver in the U17 Men’s 4+ and qualify for the USRowing Youth National Championships.
As a 5'11" athlete, I bring both physical strength and mental toughness to the boat. I am known by my coaches for being highly coachable, resilient under pressure, and consistently focused on improving myself and supporting my teammates. I thrive in demanding environments and am drawn to programs that challenge me to grow—both on the water and in the classroom.
I am seeking a university where I can continue competing at a high level in rowing while immersing myself in advanced scientific study. I’m driven not just by a desire to win, but by a desire to learn, lead, and contribute—to my team, my school, and eventually, to the broader scientific world. My academic discipline, athletic work ethic, and character make me a strong candidate for your rowing program, and I’m excited about the opportunity to grow within a collegiate team that shares a commitment to excellence.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to the possibility of bringing my drive, determination, and dedication to your team.
