Jakkson Grisham '23 Recruiting Profile

I have grown up around a soccer ball. I started playing soccer when I was three and have played every year since then.  I was first able to play goalkeeper when I was 10 and it has been my favorite thing to do to this day.  Over the years I have gained a strong passion and love for this position.  However, when I was captain of my high school team, during one game in particular I learned a valuable lesson that I think is vital to being a goalkeeper.  At half time of this game I learned what being a true leader looks like. My team was down by a goal at halftime and it was extremely hot.  I learned during that half time huddle that I will never get anywhere in this sport if I do not care for my team and work as one group. This is the moment that I learned leadership is not just doing what you have to do, but doing everything you can do to help everyone to succeed.
