Cedar Newman '23 Recruiting Profile

I've been very excited about soccer since I was 2 years old and saw what my dad could do with the ball. As the years have past I have been astonished to see what I can do and where I can go with my abilities as well. I have been able to play soccer in Spain, Costa Rica and many of the Western states. I take pleasure and pride in leading and inspiring my teammates and the people around me. I enjoy the competition, challenge and camaraderie that soccer brings and find myself only craving more.  Through the pandemic I have struggled, like everyone else. However soccer has always remained a driving force in my life.  Since returning to in-person learning I have felt reawakened and have become one of the best students in my classes. Not only do I understand all of the content but also enjoy helping my classmates make sense of the lessons. 

 As a 16 year old junior at Durango High School I have played soccer for our varsity team all three years. This year I was awarded 1st Team All State, Team MVP, Conference Player of the Year, Golden Boot and led the team to the State Quarter Finals. I am currently playing for Rio Rapids Durango and I have been playing soccer at the highest level available for as long as I can remember. I am a very composed, tactical and technical player. I pride myself on my adept passing, my ability to find the net and my exceptional skill at reading the game. I am looking forward to my senior year with another excellent season and our strong potential to bring home the State Title.
