Personal Statement
Hi my name is Skyler I'm a 6'2” Center Defender and Outside Back from Ewa Beach, Hawaii and I will graduate in 2022. First and foremost as a person, I bring a humble and respectful attitude. Upon graduation, I aspire to attend a university to complete a degree in either Business/Finance or Engineering and be a part of a collegiate soccer team.
As a student-athlete, I have maintained a 4.0 GPA in high school while training 5 days a week. Playing in competitive games twice a week during high school season was the highlight of the week for me. As a member of my club and high school soccer teams, my teammates and coaches can count on me to be reliable in my position on and off the field, willing to be coached to learn new strategies and style of play, and most importantly understand that I'm a part of a team of players. When in the role of captain of my Club soccer team, it's important that I led by example with a hard work mentality. Respecting coaches, officials and teammates are always important to me. As a member of your soccer team, I will come with a willing attitude that there is a lot to still learn and I look forward to the opportunity to be a very valuable member of your team.
Athletically, I'm most proud of my high school team’s success. I played an instrumental role as a starting center back, in winning the first-ever Division 1 Championship for my high school. I'm able to maintain a calm yet aggressive attitude which was a major contributing factor to our team’s success. Academically, I have been recognized for being consistent and committed to the work expected of me from my high school.
Academically and athletically, my hard work and commitment have set me up for success. I look forward to continuing to work towards a life as a student-athlete at your University. I'm ready to step in and contribute immediately to the success of the team as well as represent the University well as a high-performing student academically.
