Sebastian Richardson '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Sebastian Oliver Richardson.  I graduated in June 2023, and I am currently continuing my soccer development in Spain with FC Malaga City Academy.  I am playing with their Senior team affiliate, CD Almunecar City, which plays in the Division of Honor.  I spent six years with  DC United Academy - from U11-U17.  I played in the ECNL National U18/19 playoff finals with Virginia Union FC in 2022.  And, I played in the 2023 U18/19 MLS Next Cup, with Springfield South County Youth Soccer Club (SYC), scoring three (3) goals and one (1) assist in three games.  During my youth career, I played against  Bayern Munich, FC Bologna, Cayman Islands National Team, Portmore FC (Jamaica), Cuban National Team, and many MLS Academies in league and tournament play, including scoring in the Generation Adidas Cup against Real Salt Lake and in MLS Next Playoffs.   I played in USL League 2 in the summer of 2022 and played U23 in the summer of 2023 against D1, D2 and D3 competition.

I am a creative attacker, who plays wide and centrally, with a great first touch, vision and an excellent understanding of the game.  When at the wing, I can beat defenders off the dribble, put in effective crosses and make the right runs in behind; or I can play inverted.  On the ball,  I use skills and creativity to impact play:  step overs, fake shots, scoop turns, and a variety of other creative moves to help create space.  In midfield, I have experience at both the 10 and 8. When playing centrally, I can drive the ball forward to start attacks. I also drop in deep to help on defense becoming a box to box midfielder. I use combinations to get the ball forward.
