My name is Sebastian Oliver Richardson. I am a speedy winger and skillful midfield player. Formerly with DC United Academy, I joined McLean Youth Soccer (a/k/a Virginia Union FC) for the 2021 season. I am an excellent student with a working knowledge of Latin, which I have studied for six years. As a DC United academy player since age 11, I played against Bayern Munich, FC Bologna, Cayman Islands National Team, Portmore FC (Jamaica), Cuban National Team, many MLS Academies and the best youth clubs. I have also played in youth tournaments and games in Portugal and Spain.
When at the wing, I put in effective crosses and make dangerous runs in behind. On the dribble, I use skills and creativity to beat defenders one on one: step overs, fake shots, scoop turns, and a variety of other creative moves to help create space. In midfield, I have experience at both the 10 and 8. When playing centrally, I can drive the ball forward to start attacks. I also drop in deep to help on defense becoming a box to box midfielder. I use combinations to get the ball forward. I am great at playing build-up possession soccer, and direct play.
I do have interests in addition to my passion for soccer. I am a self-taught animator creating my own characters and shorts. I play viola and violin and have performed spoken word poetry at the Kennedy Center's REACH grand opening. I am also active in the youth group at my community church. I spend a lot of time with my family, including my brother who is a Track & Field athlete and football player for St. Johns College High School, and my dog, "Christiana Ronaldo," the fastest dog in our neighborhood.
