Personal Statement
My name is Jillian Breedlove and I am a Sophomore in high school attending the International Virtual Learning Academy. When I was six years old my grandfather bought me my first golf club, and from that day on golf has increasingly become a huge part of my life. After attending local golf camps and playing in mini tour events I began competitive play in the Washington Junior Golf Association at age 11. In 2017 and 2018 I had the amazing opportunity to attend the Vision54 Academy and since visiting I have grown to be a more complete athlete, improving my human skills and managing myself. Over the past few years I have worked very hard on improving all aspects on my game, so I may achieve my goals.
I have been fortunate enough to have many positive role models in my life. My parents have always taught me that hard work pays off, and that is a philosophy I live by in regard to my academics and golf. When it comes to my grades I am very determined to maintain a 4.0 GPA all four years of high school, whilst taking as many AP courses as possible. My goal is to be Valedictorian for my 2023 graduating class.
Many people who know me personally may refer to me as a determined yet empathetic person in all aspects of life. During the summer months I work on growing my leadership skills while fostering youths' love of golf by being a counselor at my local course's golf camp. Helping kids learn to love the game of golf is such an amazing way to spend my time because I get to teach them that golf is a game that relies heavily on sportsmanship, integrity, honesty, and how to properly deal with adversity. Teaching them these values reminds me why I love the game of golf so much. I greatly look forward to continuing both my golf and academic career at the collegiate level. Thank you for your time and consideration!
