Personal Statement

I have been playing soccer since I was 4 years old, but back then it was different than it is now. Back then I was playing because I liked running around, hanging out with my friends, etc. My parents noticed my love for the sport early on and encouraged me to continue. However, I soon moved on from recreational to competitive soccer at the age of 10, and ever since have been taking the game more seriously. I began to try harder, practice more, and want it more. Ever since I began playing competitive, I started to love the game rather than sport. By this I mean that I started to enjoy the dynamics and the strategies to the game, whereas before I simply wanted to run around with my friends and have fun. Now, at 16 I have progressed well, having participated in the Northern Nevada ODP program in my freshman year of high school.
I also have kept up with my school's soccer team as well, but that is not nearly as competitive as my club team (Players North 03) and the tournaments we play in. Though there have been certain injuries that set me back, I always come back to this sport and always want to improve. I also have experience playing in a Futsol league, an Indoor league, and the NorCal league.
As far as academics, I really try to get the best grades that I can. I really want to improve upon my study habits, so that I might be able to raise my GPA even higher. In college, there are so many options and so many interests that it is hard for me to decide upon what I would want to study upon. Some of these interests include Engineering, Anatomy and Physiology, English, Physics, and Software. However I am very unsure at this point in time and these could all change in the future.
The way I overcome my opponents is simply by being faster, smarter, and stronger than them, which is why training these skills is essential. I want to take the game and work at it, so that in the end it becomes all the more rewarding. Soccer has opened up a window of opportunity for me, and I want to take it. I am looking forward to competing at higher levels!
