My name is Drew Flanders and I'm a 11th Grader at Merrimack High School (Division 1) in New Hampshire. I play goalkeeper for my High School team as well as the FC Star Elite 05 Soccer Club in Salem NH. I have always been told that I have a “goalie mentality”. I love to help my team win, give all I can each game, and always keep my sense of humor, no matter what the outcome. I have been told that I'm a good shot blocker, have solid distribution skills, good/quick feet, and a loud voice. I have worked hard to understand the game and to know where my teammates need to be in every situation on the field. Being a goalie allows me to be very physical, to be a vocal leader and truly tests my nerve every time I am in goal.
I am a versatile athlete that has played soccer, basketball and baseball since the age of six. I was a two-year starter for my middle school team, made the varsity club as a freshman, and now the starting Varsity keeper (as a sophomore). I have participated in soccer year-round including goalie training for the past four years. My coaches have asked me to concentrate on one sport since the age of twelve, but I believe my basketball and baseball background assists with the physical and mental aspects of soccer.
In college, my goal is to pursue a degree / area of study that uses my strengths in math and to continue to play soccer. I look forward to my college experience and will be a great addition to your team and school. I will bring a positive attitude, sense of humor and leadership abilities to your team. I plan to continue to be a great example of what dedication and hard work does for you.... on and off the pitch.
