Austin Chendak '27 Recruiting Profile

My name is Austin Chendak. My passion has been soccer since the age of 3. The amount of hours I’ve put into the sport is immeasurable. I hope one day I might be able to go to my dream college and be able to play the thing that kept me going all these years. 

When my father first signed me up for a recreation league in a small town in New Jersey, I never thought much of it. My father was also a soccer player, a great one at that, and wanted my brother and I to continue the family legacy in soccer. After the first day, I fell in love with the sport and found myself playing soccer any chance. I remember the first recreation tournament I had, I scored 11 goals in the 5 games I played. Our team didn't win, but I still felt like a champion after. The participation trophy I got is still in my room, marking the first year I ever started the sport I would go on to play for the rest of my youth. Something that also fueled my passion for soccer was my father, he played in his youth just like me, and he played in college at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ). When I was a child he told me about his legacy as a soccer player. In high school, he played varsity soccer for his private catholic school and won the state championship with them, he also showed me his trophies and the pictures of him in the newspaper, playing the sport he loved his whole life. From there my goal was to continue his legacy as a soccer player and make my father proud of the soccer player I've become.
