I have played soccer since the age of four. I grew up in a soccer family. My dad is my ultimate role model. He played soccer in the position of striker and sweeper throughout his college career and he was phenomenal on and off the field. I loved watching his old video clips and promised myself that I will be as good, if not better than him one day.
In middle school, I was awarded MVP two years in a row, while playing for Clarence Middle School. In 2019 - 2020, I played travel soccer for Global Premier Soccer (GPS ) Elite 05. That year, our team made it to Nationals in Denver, Colorado. Unfortunately, we lost in the semi-finals. This was the first time our team had made it to Nationals, it was an amazing experience for our team.
I believe that I will be an asset to any team, because of my natural leadership abilities, hardwork and determination. One of my favorite quotes, from one of my favorite soccer players, Diego Maradona is “when people succeed, it is because of hard work. Luck has nothing to do with success.” It is my belief that hard work creates successful people.
I am committed wholeheartedly to the game of soccer. I feel blessed to have been given this incredible ability and have parents to support my aspirations.
What makes me different pertaining to my academic success, is the fact that I am committed to succeed in whatever I do. My ideal goal for high school is to graduate with a 4.0 GPA and continue being the top scorer on my high school team and travel soccer teams, in order to secure a spot at the university of my choice.
Respectfully,
Elijah Anthony Douglas
