Personal Statement
I am a hard-working, dedicated student athlete. I am committed to striving for excellence in the classroom and on the field, often putting more pressure on myself than my parents or coaches do to do well. I take pride in working hard in season and out, always wanting to improve my game. I am a fierce competitor, a loyal teammate, have a good attitude, have mental toughness, and am coachable. I am able to keep my composure and thrive in pressure situations.
As the starting varsity goal keeper for my high school team, I attribute some of my success on the field to natural athleticism and my years as a basketball player. I have played soccer and basketball each for nearly a dozen years and am also on my high school's varsity basketball team. I am very comfortable with my hands, have good hand-eye coordination, have the ability to jump over and through attackers, and can time punch outs accurately partly due to my years as a center/power forward and rebounding in basketball. I love taking those skills to the pitch and frustrating the opponent with my skill, size, and speed.
Academically, I aim for top grades and challenge myself with honors classes. In addition, I took an AP class as a junior. I was inducted into the National Honor Society and was recognized as an academic scholar my freshman, sophomore, and junior years. I am a well-rounded student and am also part of my school's select choir, Ensemble (a 16-member a cappella show choir), Fellowship of Christian Students, and Key Club.
Please ask for letters of recommendation from my soccer coaches and I will be happy to email them to you!
