I am looking to play at a college that will challenge me both academically and athletically. I was practically born with a soccer ball at my feet, playing for my first actual team when I was five. I've been told by many coaches, parents, and even my own teammates that I am always the hardest worker on the field and I intend to continue to hold that standard. Up until I was fifteen years old I was homeschooled by my mom and through other organizations, so, when I decided I wanted to change to public school, I was confronted with many challenges in the transfer process.
While sports and school didn't always mix until I became a junior and in a public high school setting, I was always on a competitive team that pushed me to become a better player. When I decided to make the switch to public school, I was told that none of my credits up to that point mattered at all; I would have to either test out of classes or retake them depending on my test out score. Even though I knew this process would be difficult I decided it would be worth the effort. After completing this tedious process I maintained a 3.5 unweighted GPA. Even though I had worked long and hard to transfer, I still fell short on credits and was still considered a sophomore. This led me to take online courses throughout the school year so that I could catch up. While juggling this, my day-to-day classes, and soccer, I was able to keep my grades up and earn a starting position on the varsity team.
Through my perseverance in school and determination on the soccer field I'm adequately prepared to transition to the collegiate level of academic and athletic experience.
