Hello, my name is Joel Alvarez Class of 2026, I have been blessed by hardworking parents and siblings I can always count on. At an early age honestly, since I can remember soccer has been a big part of my life the one thing that I am very passionate about other than my family. My father played for an Adult League locally and would take us to all his games and practices. I was so excited when I got to be on my team at the age of 4 and have not stopped playing since.
Throughout my time playing I have learned how much discipline, hard work, and most importantly teamwork it takes, which is something that has helped me develop to be a better player and person in general. I have had the opportunity to be team captain for over 2 years and was invited to try out for the Olympic Development Program (ODP) and was accepted. In the short time I was there I learned a lot, as in learning how to be a team player and how to play at an intense level this helped me a lot to grow as a better player. We eventually moved back to Oklahoma City in 2023, after living in Houston for 3 years, being on a strong team for 2 years at club and school, where the coaches for the North Shore High School had been watching me my 7th & 8thgrade year and were prepping me for their team. This was hard to overcome, and I feel that it has set me back slightly, however, I am in full force to achieve my goal and become better each step of the way.
I am looking for a college where I can continue to grow mentally and physically and be a part of a new team (soccer family), where I can show my strengths and work on my weaknesses. I feel that my skills show loyalty, persistence, honesty, leadership skills, motivation, and on the field good ball control, strong passes, competitiveness, communication, and giving it my all. I do have some areas of improvement as in, showing less emotion on the field when things get to me and confidence in my shots I feel as if sometimes I second guess myself.
As I finish up my journey in High School, I plan on giving it 120% academically and athletically I am currently running cross country, the kicker for the football team, and will possibly wrestle this year. I am looking forward to graduating and continuing my education at a college where I can continue to play soccer the sport that I love and would do anything I can to always play and continue my education in Entrepreneurship / Real Estate. I am excited to meet coaches and players from all over and maintain those relationships. Thank you for your time
