I am a 2026 high school graduate student, and I aim to earn a college degree in engineering. I have been enrolled in Honors classes for the last three years, and I have only ever earned one B. I have ADHD, and it took me a long time to push through my struggles and find the right medications to help me. Through these challenges, I have had to overcome my shortcomings and develop myself as a student and as a player.
I recently re-devoted myself to the love of soccer. I have always challenged myself physically, but I didn't think I possessed the talent for higher-level playing. That changed under some talent coaching and from comments from coaches while playing in college ID camps. My mentality is that I will achieve my goals with hard work. I've also had some physical problems as well, as I have broken my left clavicle. However, the moment I came back I had the best season of my career scoring 6 goals, (4 freekicks, one indirect kick, one rebound off of a corner) and having 2 assists from my center-back position. I have also recently torn my ACL and meniscus, but I'm not letting that slow me down. One month after surgery I was able to pedal 2.5 miles in 10 minutes with level four resistance on an exercise bike.
My parents are my biggest supporters, and they have encouraged and pushed me along the way. They were the ones who helped me discover soccer as soon as I could walk. That love soon grew into my current level, travel soccer. They have helped me realize that I can be more than I thought--both on & off the field. They have provided avenues for me to pursue playing in a high-level soccer league. Through camps and individualized training, I have discovered more about my abilities as a soccer player, and I have been working on being a more all-around, utility player, who has more than just defensive skills.
When playing defense, I like trying to take charge and playing as a sweeper in a 4-4-2 or a 4-3-3 formation, but I have adapted to playing in three-backs and five-backs. While center back used to be my typical and most comfortable position, I have been deployed as a striker, winger, and attacking midfielder to fill in gaps when we had injuries or suspensions. I have been told that I visualize the field & play well off of people. I catch on quickly and understand what a coach is asking. I enjoy learning these positions, and because of my speed and agility, I can use my strengths to propel the team. I am not afraid to be physical in the game, nor am I afraid to fall or concede a foul if needed. I frequently take free kicks from various distances and corners, and I often throw in the ball into the 18-yard box to create chances. During our 2021-2022 middle school season, our team won our first district championship, and I received the Defensive Player of the Year award.
Outside of field play, I also push myself in personal training sessions for strength & conditioning and speed & agility twice a week. We test speed & agility every 3 months. I currently run a 1.53s 10yd, 4.79s 40yd dash, 4.7s pro-circuit, and my jumps measure 25" vertical & 7'8" broad.
I mentored younger children in our club's developmental program. I also currently referee at the recreational and state levels. I enjoy participating in both these areas of soccer because as a player, I understand the importance of education, development, and rules. I have also been looking to volunteer at my local middle school as an assistant coach.
