Personal Statement
I fell in love with athletics at an early age. Not because I was extremely passionate about one particular sport, but because I needed an outlet for my high volume of energy. I used athletics, of any kind, to essentially keep myself, and all those around me, sane. As I matured, I started to become more passionate about certain sports. Those being; soccer, baseball, and skiing. I took a stab at basketball briefly, needless to say, it didn’t work out. As my passion grew, so did my work ethic and my commitment. I spent hours practicing in my front yard, playing wall ball with both soccer balls and baseballs, and dreaming up my own drills. Beyond this, I continued to just be a generally active kid. All of those hours practicing and dreaming, started to set me above my competition. With the glory of “winning” came a renewed commitment to progressing my skills. These things can still be found in my game today. I spend hours on the field and in the gym working tirelessly to perfect my technique and physique. I spend hours watching film from my own games, and film of teams I aspire to be on, to improve my tactical understanding of the game. Soccer is my passion. I love to play, I love to learn about, and I love to watch, the “beautiful game”.
I feel that I would be a wonderful addition to any college roster. I bring things to the table that are essential for any successful team. My work ethic and my “never quit” attitude being the most prominent. I understand the fact that there will always be someone who is better than me, however I always make it my goal to put all of my effort into out working them. I think my work ethic is reflected in my leadership style. I prefer to lead by example, and push those around me to match my intensity. Along with being a crucial asset to a college team, the academic value I would bring to campus is also important. My work in the classroom is comparable to my work on the soccer field. I work hard to be the best student I can, and I believe my academic successes reflect that.
My ultimate goal is to both play college soccer at a high level, and to study at a high level. I hope to be able to pursue my passion past high school. I dream of landing in a place where I am able to be impactful on the team and in the classroom.
