My name is Brendan Nguyen and I am an attacking midfielder in the class of 2025 at Annandale high school. I currently play soccer for my high school team, and I am an essential asset of the BRYC elite academy, which I have been a player for the past six years. I have always strived to be the best version of myself, whether it’s on the field, off the field, in the gym, in the classroom, and especially as a son and big brother. My goal is to play soccer at a college program where I can be challenged both academically, athletically, and holistically. I want to expand my career and mind both on the academic side and on the athletic side. I think that I would be a great candidate for college programs because I am a very disciplined, motivated, tenacious, and a team player. I believe every experience is an opportunity for learning and growth. I have always been passionate about soccer because it involves precise tactical skills, understanding of complex scenarios, and most of all because it is an economically and racially diverse sport played by many cultures. I learned at a very young age that soccer is a “common language” for passionate soccer players like myself. You can play soccer anywhere, any part of the world, regardless of the spoken language. Soccer for me is a sport that builds bridges amongst different cultures, which in turn promotes communication, respect, and understanding.
I hope to be able to one day become a student athlete at the college level. My ultimate dream is to utilize my experience at the college level, college degree, and passion to become a soccer trailblazer- like the many soccer greats before me -Ronaldo, Pele, and Messi- to promote social inclusion.
