I have played soccer since I was 5, but never decided I was up for the challenge until I joined an advanced team at 12. Despite developing later as a player on the club side I feel that I am still much more competitive than my high school coach seems to think. I tried out for my varsity team in 9th grade and was put on JV to get playing time. Made it in 10th grade, but was only put in for the games we had already put away. I play mostly defensively so my statistics end up coming down to shutting down the offense on my side and the number of goals prevented which, if counting my time playing in the Southside Men's League and club would be many. I quit club this past year to focus on high school and maintaining my GPA while studying for big tests such as the SAT. I had hoped to be a bigger impact player, but no matter how I hard it worked it didn't seem to matter. I was thrown into the games that we had again, practically won. I tried out for a club team so I can get some exposure in some college showcase tournaments in addition to play with the school team again in the fall. Over the summer I am training with a local coach 6 days a week in addition to camps in late june and early august. This fall I hope to come up with film that proves my belief in my playing ability.
