Since joining my local club team at age 12, we have won four straight Colorado Seasonal State Championships. We have a number of strong swimmers on our team and I considered myself one as well. This summer at the seasonal state meet I realized I had additional untapped potential, enjoyed swimming with a team I had spent a summer working so hard with and had the best results of my short career. This year I was challenged to become a leader on my team and that role helped build additional passion and confidence for a sport I already enjoyed.
I know there are swimmers with faster times than I have swam, but I am confident I am just now learning how to race and use my love of swimming to improve my times. I plan to continue working on my skills, but also growing as a leader and person. I plan to use swimming to assist in meeting my college goals and hope to go on to coach swimming and help inspire others. I am open to any positions or events, I just look forward to being part of a team and growing.
