2020 HighlightsI’ve been swimming competitively since the age of five and splitting my time between three different teams and three different coaches. Each coach has a unique style to which I’ve learned to respond to very well. These experiences have helped me to grow both as a swimmer and a person. The flexibility I’ve learned across these teams allows me to adapt to the changing teammates and coaching styles.
I started off my high school career reserved and quiet. I built some friendships in my freshman year, but I still wasn’t really going outside my comfort zone. I have recently started to try and do things outside of what I used to be uncomfortable with. Since then, I have only become more outgoing and confident. I now find my friends coming to me when they need to talk about their problems and questions.
Something I really try hard to work on is personal growth as well as team growth. I have been told by multiple coaches throughout different sports about how well I respond to coaching. I will also always be happy to swim any event that will best benefit the team and not necessarily my personal goals.
This summer I was promoted to senior guard, overseeing 13 other guards. This job has helped me even further understand how to balance the responsibilities of work and school while still training hard. I continue to try and work on aspects of my personality to become more outgoing and having good relationships with people. I look forward to continuing my academic and swimming career.
