Personal Statement
I have been competitively swimming for my club, Greater Pensacola Aquatic Club (GPAC) since I was seven. I was watching the 2012 Olympics and went and jumped in my MiMi's pool and started swimming. Swimming has been my passion since then and when I can no longer swim competitively I want to be a swim coach. I love being a part of a team and supporting my team mates as well as doing my best to contribute to the overall team success. My primary is Fly but I am also extremely competitive in Free and Back. I am committed to swimming at the collegiate level and making a future in swimming.
Like everyone else in the world, COVID-19 rocked my swimming world. Two-days prior to heading to Sectionals in Atlanta, GA COVID struck and cancelled the meet. I was mad! After about a week of being upset, I decided to start training on my own since all pools and gyms closed. Over the next two months, I worked hard in our home pool and with dry land conditioning about 2 hours per day, 6 days per week. Once the pools and gyms opened, I began a strength-training program with a local youth sports program and club practices resumed. I moved from juniors to seniors with the club at this time. From March to July, I gained 20 pounds of muscle while maintaining my body fat at 9%. I am not afraid of hard work or being challenged (I welcome it), and I take pride in my work ethic. My High School goal is to win the Florida State 3A 100 Fly and 200 Free and swimming in college is my long-term goal but most importantly I want to be a contributor to a winning team.
