Robert(Daniel) Robbins '10 Recruiting Profile

I am now a senior here in my hometown of ALTUS! I'm nearly 6'3" and I weigh 175. I started swimming as a freshman. My sophomore year I broke my collar bone mid-season. My junior year I had to have surgery right after the state competition, due to a slight tear to my labrum which the doctor said had probably been there for years. I was unable to practice for 4 months while I recovered from my surgery, but I did rehab during that time. I practiced with a swim club in Oklahoma City this summer called Chesapeake Swim Club. This is really just my third year of competitive swimming. My high school's swim season is during the winter only, so I felt it was important to practice 2 a day practices over the summer with the Chesapeake Club. On September 24, my team had its first inter-squad scrimmage, and I already swam a personal best time in the 100 meter freestyle. I think I will keep decreasing all my times now that I'm training more. I swim 2 hours Monday-Friday in the afternoons. Tuesday and Thursday morning I swim an extra hour before school, and I work out Monday, Wednesday, and Friday after my afternoon practice for about an hour. I have dropped over 5 seconds off my backstroke,and over 6 seconds on my 200 IM this year and almost 3 seconds off my 200 free time which my Coach and I feel pretty good about considering I had off season surgery. I started this recruiting process as soon as I was completely sure I wanted to go to college and swim. I do live in Oklahoma; which has no swimming programs at the collegiate level yet. Any division is fine with me, my mother was diagnosed with cancer; it is in remission now thankfully. With this problem it may be beneficial for me to go to a college closer to Oklahoma, but if you're far away and you're interested, don't hesitate to let me know. I am a christian and a christian school would be awesome, all male-schools aren't something I'm looking for. Any size of school works for me I suppose. Class options are open for me, science classes do seem to be my forte, although I enjoy all classes the same. I can't wait to go to college!
