Jeffrey Gerber '20 Recruiting Profile

When I am looking at a college, I am first and foremost looking for a school that will allow me to challenge myself not only in the pool, but in the classroom as well. In my eyes, if you do not have to mentally or physically challenge yourself, you do not stand to gain anything from that experience. That is why I enjoy swimming so much: there is always a way to challenge yourself, a way to make yourself better,  and a way to drop another second. The only limits in swimming are the ones you put on yourself, and if you are like me, you realize that those limits can be overcome through hard work and constant effort. 

The enthusiasm I have for effort and dedication also extends into the classroom.  Like swimming, a classroom provides a constant opportunity to make yourself better and learn something new, but only if you dedicate yourself to it. I am looking for a school that has a rigorous physics and astrophysics program, where I cannot only learn but contribute to new discoveries within the fields. I operate best when there is a challenge to be faced, and I think this skill will help me succeed in both college swimming and academics.
