My name is Andrew Ahshapanek and I have a passion for playing tennis. Since I first picked up a tennis racquet and attended a tennis camp in the fifth grade, I have always had a desire to learn everything about tennis. I have played tennis for the Anadarko Public School System for the last six years. During my high school years, I have always been on the varsity team, even as a freshman. Over the years of playing tennis I have gained much knowledge on strategy, conditioning, nutrition and rules. Not only do I play on the varsity tennis team, I also compete in USTA tennis tournaments. The following are a list of tennis related experiences and achievements: 2012 OSSAA State Tennis Tournament 5th place in #1 doubles class 4A (record 32-12), 2012 Regional Champions, 2011 OSSAA State Tennis Tournament 5th place #1 doubles class 4A (record 32-7), 2011 Regional Runner-Up, 2010 OSSAA State Tennis Tournament 5th place #2 doubles class 4A (record 35-7), 2010 Regional Champions, attended Nike Tennis Camp 2009-2012 at University of Oklahoma, Received All-Star Award and jackets in 2011, Consolation Champion (2010 & 2011) at the North American Indian Tennis Association National Tournament, Consolation Champion (2012) at the NAITA National Tournament in both Boys 18 & under and Men's Open division, represented the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes at the Inaugural Jim Thorpe Native American Games in the sport of tennis, assisted in teaching the annual summer tennis camp in Anadarko, honored by the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes for Outstanding Native American Athlete, volunteered as a Ball Boy at two USTA Pro Circuit Tournaments (2010 & 2011) and the Oklahoma Pro Tour Exhibition (2011). Current Rankings: USTA Missouri-Valley Region 84; Oklahoma Region 13. For the first 5 years of playing tennis, all of my accomplishments have been from practicing and playing on my own. It's only been since June 2012 that I have had any lessons from a pro. To date I have only taken about seven lessons. I am a very dedicated and hard worker when it comes to tennis. I am usually the first to practice and the last to leave. My goals are to attend a college that provides me with an excellent education and play tennis for that school. I plan on majoring in computer science. I want to play college tennis because I LOVE TENNIS. I am a strong Christian and God is my leader. I have an identical twin brother Daniel who is and always has been my doubles teammate.
