Personal Statement
I started running cross country to follow in my older brother's footsteps, and very quickly developed a love for the process and results I was seeing. My strengths are long distance events in track and XC 5ks. My very first 5k I did was the beginning of Freshman year where I ran a 24:36 at a local race. By the end of my junior year of cross country, I knocked that time down to a 15:49. I can credit this improvement to many things, but being able to push myself alone and find motivation without a team during this pandemic, gave me a real boost. Since Covid started, having to practice alone was a new norm and I used this opportunity to branch off from baseline training and go the extra mile, figuratively and literally. I never expected to fall in love with this sport as much as I did, and I plan to keep running as long as I am physically able to. I look forward to running in college and being included in a team that I'm proud to be a part of, and am looking towards breaking state, regional, and hopefully national titles with my teammates
