What separates me from other distance runners is my self-confidence in myself and ability to race tactically. I’ve competed with guys who have quicker pbs than me, raced after missing a few days of training or while recovering from a nagging injury, and regardless of the situation when I step to the line I tell myself that I will win. Some people may think it’s delusional, and they may be right because it doesn’t always work out the way i think it will (if it did I would have several national championships by now and that clearly hasn’t happened yet.) But in many situations I’ve been able to use smart race tactics and mental strength to ensure myself the best race possible, and I think my record speaks for itself. There’s plenty of guys running times similar to me, but I’m always willing to put in the extra work and make it hurt to help myself and my team succeed to the best of our abilities.
