Running is all about setting goals for myself and working diligently to break them. That's what it's always been about, on and off the track. My 8th grade year I was last on my cross country team, so one of my first running goals was to be the number one runner on the team and get MVP. This goal took me two years but my junior year I accomplished it, even when everyone told me I could never out run the people who were faster than me then. My freshman year I told myself I was going to be number one on the team for the 800m. So I ran behind the number one guy every day at practice and worked so much harder than him even though he was a senior with many years of experience on me until I broke his PR at my final race. Over the summer I told myself I was going to learn the science behind distance running and track, something I've never stopped pursuing. After my freshman year of track I told myself I was going to be a great leader and help the team by motivating them. This was my biggest challenge yet, but I've read many leadership books and I'm continuing to work on being a leader to every single person on the track team, no matter how fast or slow they are or how high they can jump. I want to help every one on my team to do the best they can and achieve all of their goals. All things considered, I'm looking for a team with a strong team dynamic where I can set more goals for myself and work to break them with the help of my team and my coach.
