Hip No. 10 - 800m...
Hip No. 5 - 1500m...Running track at the collegiate level is something that I aspire to do once I finish High School because it will provide me with a profound education and allow me to train to my full potential, an experience unlike anything Australian Universities can offer.
Xavier College, my current High School, provides an environment and culture that I see emulated in the collegiate system. The large and supportive crowds that go to the sporting events is one of my favourite aspects of school, and I am looking forward to continuing that experience.
I had a relatively late start into the sport of Track and Field, doing the odd “Little Athletics” season here and there but never really growing a passion to commit to it. It was in a race in March 2021 (towards the end of the Australian Track Season) which I ran my first sanctioned 1500m and ran 4:42. From then on, Track and Field ruled my summer seasons, working hand in hand with Australian Rules Football in the Winter. I initially ran to become a better footballer, but after my first State and National Championships 12 months later (4th in the 800m for both), I became a runner, while still maintaining Australian Rules.
Academically, finishing High School, I hope to get an ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank, your position in your year group, received at the end of Year 12) of above a 90. Athletically, I want to win an APS Title (School Conference) and run under 3:49 for 1500m and under 1:51 for 800m.
I am looking for a College that has a strong athletic program which will nurture me yet push me to the limit. After College, if I don’t become a professional runner, I hope to go into the field of Finance, and I am hoping that a Finance/Commerce degree in college will set me up well for that.
Personally, I have an excellent work ethic and a drive to be successful. While I don’t like losing, I am humble in defeat, and it drives me to push to new levels and train harder. Similarly, a win lights the fire inside of me for what could be, and I believe that there is always a way that I can be better. Whether that be a significant thing like in training, or a small thing like focusing on recovery, an aspect I take very seriously.
