Be Perfect has been my motto since a very young age. My mother says Be and I say Perfect before every race. Not the way you think it sounds but the way Billy Bob Thornton explained it in Friday Night Lights. Being Perfect is about being able to look at your friends/teammates in the eye and know that you didn't let them down, because you told them the truth. And that the truth is that you did everything you could. There wasn't one more thing you could've done. That is how I feel every time I get off a track. That I left it all out there.
Whether I am the anchor on our 2nd place state finish team running against the National Champion or being fluid enough that Coach can put me in any spot on our team and know that I will go out and perform to his expectations if not exceed them. Running has the greatness of an individual sport where you are always aimimg at your next PR and the fulfillment of a team aiding points to the final score that has helped us win regional championships 8 years in a row. My speed and my attitude are the things that set me apart in any athletic competition. I am confident but my ego is about my team and not my individual status. My Coaches have created a great program and it makes you want to give back to them in every way you can to show them that what they do matters and has helped to create who I am.
Running the 800 is my greatest challenge but also my ultimate strength. My parents were 800 runners and I have the support and foundation behind me to make sure I can excel in that space. It's not just about running, but weight training, flexibility and agility and the constant want to be better. I will bring this to your program. I am a quiet kid who works hard everyday, who wants to be part of a team and continue to achieve my personal goals
