Personal Statement

I have played baseball since I was 4 years old and I absolutely love the game. My passion for the game comes from my excitement to step on the field. The smell of fresh cut grass, wet dirt, and leather gloves compares to no other smell in the world. I have played many positions in my career and I have come to love playing 2nd base and outfield the most. I am a well-rounded player who puts team above self. My parents and coaches have always instilled a team-first attitude in me. Without my team, I would not be able to play the game for which I have so much passion. In addition to playing baseball, I run cross country and track for my high school to help keep me in shape throughout the year. I also have continued to play recreational basketball to carry me through the winter months when I am not running as much, and before baseball starts.

I am an excellent student who works hard and stays focused on the task at hand. I have been in the National Junior Honor Society since 7th grade, and will be moving into the National Honor Society this year as a sophomore. My GPA score is 4.33 for the spring 2017 semester of my freshman year. I took Pre-AP Biology, Pre-AP Geometry, and Pre-AP Government. I scored As in the Pre-AP Biology and Pre-AP Government classes, and a high B in the Prep-AP Geometry class. My other classes were non-advanced classes and I finished with As in those classes as well. I have always strived for high grades because I understand the importance of being just as academically strong as I am on the field. Academics plays a key role in my life because this is where you learn time management skills, responsibility, respect, and other important life lessons.
