I started pole vaulting in 8th grade and really enjoy flying. My freshman year I won the 10 5A Junior Varsity District Meet with a vault of 9'6". This really inspired me to continue my pursuit of getting on the Varsity Squad. My Sophomore year I started on the Junior Varsity Squad running hurdles and pole vaulting. The coaches recognized that my heights in pole vault could score points on the Varsity Squad. So after our first meet I was moved up to the Varsity Squad. My first Varsity Meet I placed 2nd with a vault of 10'. So my next goal was to prepare to win the 11 5A District Meet as a Sophomore. At the District Meet I vaulted 11’6” a new personal best and won the 11 5A District Title in pole vault and qualified for the Area Meet. At the Area Meet I placed 3rd with a new personal best of 12’3” and qualified for the Region II Track Meet in Waco TX. At the Region II meet I placed 12th it was a good learning experience. I now know what it will take to qualify for the State Meet. My pursuit of the State Meet will begin this summer 2013 as I begin training with Club Vaultitude in Rockwall TX. I look forward to the challenge I have placed in front of me to get better every day.
