I started track my freshman year to be conditioned for soccer as it used to be my main sport. I continued to use track as just a way to condition for soccer until my junior year when I ran my first 400m. After I ran the 400m I realized I have good potential in it as I ran a time of 52.6 for my first 400m. I had little time to improve on it afterwards but I managed to get it down to a 50.45 by the end of the season. This allowed me to compete at the regional meet for my 400m event and in the 4x400m relay we ended up winning the state championship and placing 4th place at the Adidas nationals Meet. This experience at the higher level really showed me how important it is to be able to perform under pressure and I feel as it sets me ahead from other runners at my level. In school I always put my best effort and dedicate a good amount of time to my studies. I ended my junior year with a weighted gpa of 4.56 which made my cumulative gpa 4.01. I am also currently an IB diploma candidate. Being an IB diploma candidate has enhanced my essay writing skills and my research skills as I was able to write a 4000 word extended essay on a specific topic. Having this experience in writing could really help me in my college career as the essay I wrote is essentially the same level as a college level essay.
