My name is Chase Little. I am a Junior at Winthrop College Prep Academy, playing libero/setter for the 23-24 season. I play at a Club named Florida Elite Volleyball Academy (FEVA), as well as my school‘s varsity team. I’ve played volleyball since seventh grade where I built up fundamentals and put in lots of hard work to reach where I’m at now. I started playing club my sophomore year when I joined Hurricane Volleyball Academy (HVA) which taught me valuable lessons and showed me how much more I still had to learn. Transitioning from beach to a court was certainly a struggle at first and sometimes it still is, but it is not a challenge I won’t eventually overcome with lots of practice and dedication. If you ask my teammates, they will tell you I always have a positive and encouraging attitude towards both them, and my opponents. This attitude is what led me to be captain of varsity my freshman, sophomore, and junior year, as well as being the assistant coach for the girls JV and varsity teams. That opportunity led me to develop great leadership skills and I strive to continue having a positive attitude on the court as well as in school. I've learned many lessons over the past few years, one of which being that no matter how much work you put in and how much time and effort you apply, there’s always a reason to keep growing and improving to reach new heights. My love and motivation, for the sport comes from my father. I saw him, at a young age, coaching high school girls volleyball which inspired me to want to play. I quickly realized it wasn’t as easy as it looked but I was determined to grow and keep going. My dad not only coached me from the very beginning, but also supported me through any challenges I faced. I wouldn’t be the athlete I am today without his guidance. Academically, I strive to maintain a high GPA while also taking AP and honors classes. While difficult at times, I’m determined to keep up with my work in order to get into the colleges I desire. I practice daily building time management skills, organization, and above all, healthy mental and physical habits like exercise and studying. Volleyball means more to me now than I could’ve ever imagined it being 5 years ago, and that’s thanks to the friendships and challenges I’ve faced along the way. Some days are a struggle and it can be very stressful, but nothing is too hard to overcome.
