Personal Statement
Committed to Marymount University, CO 27’
My name is Liam O'Neil and I am a 6'0" 160 pound starting Outside Hitter at Western Branch High School. This is my second season of school ball and through hard work I have already earned the team captain spot. Here is some background information about me:
All the way up until sophomore year I wanted to play basketball. That was, until I discovered volleyball. Over the last year and a few months I have put in hours upon hours of work to become a little bit better everyday. Volleyball feels so natural to me and it is truly the sport that I am meant to play. I love this sport and will continue to work hard in it in hopes of playing at the collegiate level.
Dedication in sports is one of my key attributes, but I work very hard in school as well. I have a 4.4 gpa and am ranked 13th out of my 490 student class. Balancing all these classes with sports has been difficult but I would love to continue doing the same in college.
What I can bring to the table on a college team is my level-headedness and perseverance. As the team captain I have learned to stay cool in heated moments, for I know that my boys are looking at me for guidance. I will always strive to become better and I will never give up on this sport that I love so much.
