My name is Joseph Madigan and I am a 16u center and utility at Capital Water Polo and a rising junior at Arlington Tech. I have played water polo for Capital since 2016 when I was 10 years old and have swam competitively since I was 6. Last year at Arlington Tech I challenged myself with difficult Dual Enroled and AP classes and achieve a 3.7 unweighted and 3.9 weighted GPA. Because Arlington Tech is a choice program I also swim with my neighborhood high school’s swim team. Through swimming, I have learned to push myself to swim faster for longer periods which has greatly improved my water polo game skills. Some highlights of my swimming have been my 500-yard freestyle in 5:00.86 and my 200-yard freestyle in 1:50.82. Using my swimming and strength in center I started on the Capital team that won JO’s in texas last year where I opened up driving lanes and created opportunities for myself and my teammates to score. I have also been selected to the North East Zone ODP team in 2019 and again in 2022 where I was able to show my speed and ability all around in the pool. Currently, I am starting on the Capital Water Polo 16u Team this summer at Junior Olympics in California from July 16th to July 19th.
