I grew up in the Midwest where I was a three-sport athlete in high school (football, basketball, and track). I earned USA Today Illinois Player of the Year honors in football my junior and senior year, and went to Illinois State University on a full ride scholarship. Despite a successful start to my career, I went through some challenges when my entire coaching staff left. I transferred to Truman State my senior year. After earning a degree in marketing, I played professional indoor football. After a season, I went back to school to earn a second degree in business teacher education. While doing this I coached Division III football.

Once I finished my education degree, I became a high school teacher and a coach, while also playing and coaching professional indoor football (five more seasons as a player and three as a coach). I was a head high school football coach for six years (eight years all together), and an assistant track coach for four years. I earned my masters degree and went into administration, where I became a director of athletics and Title IX coordinator for a large school district.

I met my wife, Julie at Illinois State. Julie was a member of the volleyball team. She’s a talented Senior Recruiting Specialist at NCSA, after having coached volleyball at the D1, high school, and club levels.

Julie and I have two children (and, yes, they are enrolled with NCSA). We love sports. Our daughter loves volleyball and basketball, and our son is passionate about football, basketball, and baseball. Our Yorkies, Blu and Champ, are avid fetchers!

I love working at NCSA because I’m passionate about working with student-athletes. I’ve spent my entire professional career working with athletes, and believe this job is a uniquely fantastic opportunity to positively impact athletes’ lives.
