Working at NCSA has been incredibly rewarding because it allows me to stay connected to the world of athletics and help guide families through one of the most important decisions in a young athlete’s life—college recruiting. As a former Division I wrestler at the University of Missouri, where I walked on and earned my varsity letter after five years of dedication, I understand the challenges and triumphs that come with being a student-athlete. Now, having the chance to support others in navigating that path and helping them reach their goals brings me a deep sense of fulfillment. I take great pride in being a small part of each athlete’s journey and success.
In addition to my own wrestling career, I spent seven years coaching high school varsity wrestling in Illinois, working with numerous state qualifiers and champions. Helping those athletes earn scholarships and compete at the collegiate level was incredibly meaningful and is something I carry with me into my work at NCSA. I also have experience competing in professional MMA, with 12 cage fights under my belt, and I’ve trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for the past 14 years, continuing to compete regularly. My background gives me a unique perspective on the dedication and discipline required to succeed at high levels in sport.
Outside of work, I live in San Diego with my wife, Shahed, and our Alaskan Malamute, Izzy. We love spending time outdoors—whether that’s hiking, going to the beach, or just enjoying the California sunshine.
