I am Shayne Marquez a recruiting coordinator at NCSA. I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada which is luckily where the second office for NSCA is located. I was a three sport athlete in high school playing tennis, basketball, and volleyball. I made an impulse decision to either play volleyball in college if I didn’t win the state championship or I would just go to UNLV. My high school team made it all the way to the state championship match and unfortunately, we lost. It ended up being one of the best twists of fate in my life as I was able to start the inaugural men’s volleyball program at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. By using NCSA I was able to find the right college for me. As a member of the first team at Loras I was a huge part in welcoming recruits and helping build a program from the ground up. I took pride in helping these kids ultimately make a decision for their future.
My college career was a journey from starting off 3-20 in our first year to making it all the way to the conference championship by the time I was a senior. I found my passion working in sports while interning for three years in the athletic communications department working all of the home games and running the social media accounts. I graduated as the all-time assist leader at Loras and graduated with a degree in sport management. Upon graduation, I moved back home and now I’m in a role where hopefully I can help give student athletes the same awesome experience I had during college. I still love to play all sports, play with my Australian shepherd, and hang out with my friends and family.
